Why she might be annoying
Her name sounds very generic.
At the end of the '60s, she released a grittier-sounding album which was a commercial failure.
After that, she scaled back from the music industry.
She soon found herself in the work-a-day world, where she did everything from running her own jewelry store to working security.
Why she might not be annoying
She began writing songs at the age of nine.
The song 'Hello Stranger' on her debut Lp peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and #1 on the R&B chart in 1963.
Her hits have been covered by many artists such as Debby Boone, Yvonne Elliman and Queen Latifah.
Along with Lena Horne and Etta James, she was a pioneering spirit for R&B/Soul.
