He specifically stated in his will that his ex-wives and son David were to receive nothing.

He worked as a dishwasher, chauffer, bell hop, stable boy, delivery man, postal clerk, hotel clerk, clothes salesman and other assorted jobs until his big break came.
He performed in several Broadway musicals.
He won a Tony in 1964 as Best Supporting or Featured Actor in a Musical for 'She Loves Me.'
The ring he was wearing when he died was given to his son Patrick, but later stolen in a home break-in.
He was posthumously awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for his work in theater.
