They were formerly called Total Concept Unlimited, then Magic Wand before settling on Rose Royce (taken from front singer Rose Norwal).

'Car Wash' hit #1 on both the Billboard Singles and R&B charts.
The single became certified platinum and sold over 2 million units.
They've had seven Top 10 R&B hits.
Christina Aguilera and Missy Elliott recorded 'Car Wash' for the 2004 animated film 'Shark Tale.'
Other artists who've recorded their songs include Madonna, Mary J. Blige, Joe Cocker, Beyonce and Jay-Z.
They have a huge fan base in England.
