Vocalist

The Resume

    (January 23, 1940-February 4, 2016)
    Born in Bloomington, Indiana
Recorded the single ‘Wooden Heart (Muss I Denn)’ (1961)

Why he might be annoying:

He was rushed into the studio to record ‘Wooden Heart’ because it had been a hit in Europe for Elvis Presley, but RCA Records had decided not to release Elvis’ recording as a single in the US.
He learned the German lines in ‘Wooden Heart’ phonetically, without knowing what they meant.
    He was a one-hit wonder.
He went from having a number one hit to being dropped by his record label in only two years.

Why he might not be annoying:

He was signed to Smash Records partly for his voice and partly for his ‘all-American Jack Armstrong look.’
The organ on ‘Wooden Heart’ was played by Ray Stevens.
His version of ‘Wooden Heart’ beat out four competing covers to top the Billboard singles chart.
He had wanted to write his own songs, but Smash refused.
After his pop music days were done, he had a successful career in advertising, writing and singing jingles.
