Why he might be annoying:

He began performing in the rodeo at age four, billed as 'The World's Youngest Trick Rider and Trick Roper.'
He made his film debut in black face in an Al Jolson movie.
He said his fellow child actors were 'Hollywood phonies.'
He complained, 'Modern animation is so flat. It has no life in it.'

Why he might not be annoying:

He was discovered at the rodeo by cowboy star Hoot Gibson, who encouraged him and his family to relocate to Hollywood.
For a sequence where Pinocchio talks while underwater, Disney's technicians essentially waterboarded him: 'They had me lie on a table and poured water in my mouth while I tried to read the dialogue. I almost drowned.'
He put his years of experience on horses to use as a stuntman for Gene Autry's production company.
As acting roles became scarce, he launched a successful second career as a real estate agent.
He and Betty Jones were married for 66 years.
When he made promotional appearances in his 80s for the Blu-Ray edition of Pinocchio, interviewers noted his 'eternally youthful' demeanor.
