The Resume

    (November 20, 1948- )
Former Assistant Secretary for International Organizational Affairs
Former Undersecretary of State for Arms Control and International Security
Member of the Council on Foreign Relations (2001)
Member of the Project for the New American Century

Nominated for the post of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations (March 7, 2005)

Why he might be annoying:

He considers China and Cuba to be the United States' biggest foes.
Almost every photo of him on the internet has an American flag somewhere nearby.
He was a member of six-party talks on the North Korean nuclear program, where he was kicked out for voicing his opinions on North Korean government.
A North Korean spokesman called him 'human scum' and a 'bloodsucker.'
He is nominated for the position of U.N. diplomat even though he has made numerous disdainful statements about the institution.
His blunt nature conducting diplomacy has won him many enemies from other countries.
There is a huge debate in the U.S. Senate over whether he is appropriate for the job, which might cause him to lose the nomination.
He believes that the world should be lead by the United States only, because he feels it is the only remaining superpower.
He thinks treaties are simply political obligations that can be ignored at any time by the United States.
He has been accused of abusing his subordinates.

Why he might not be annoying:

He is always clear about what he thinks, something rare in a diplomat.
It was a fair assessment when he called Kim Jong Il a 'tyrannical dictator.'
He has served in several positions within the State Department, the Justice Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development.
He is known as a guy Republicans turn to to get things done.
