Voice Actress

The Resume

    (November 14, 1952- )
    Born in Los Angeles, California
Provided the voices of Maude Flanders, Helen Lovejoy, Miss Hoover, and Luann Van Houten (plus many one-episode characters) on The Simpsons, and Pearl Pureheart in ‘Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures’
Appeared in the films ‘Lost in America’ (1985), ‘Pretty in Pink’ (1986), ‘Switchback’ (1997), and ‘Silver City’ (2004)

Why she might be annoying:

She turned down an offer to replace Gilda Radner on Saturday Night Live after her agent convinced her ‘the show wasn’t going anywhere.’
She left ‘The Simpsons’ over a pay dispute (1999).
As a result, the character of Maude Flanders was killed off.

Why she might not be annoying:

Fellow ‘Simpsons’ voice actress Nancy Cartwright wrote, ‘Maggie Roswell has been blessed with a skill in creating one of the hardest things to create: the 'normal sound,' whatever that is. So she can easily slip into the gal next door or any number of assorted reporters, medical students, jury members, accountants, scientists and moms.’
In the pay dispute that resulted in her leaving ‘The Simpsons,’ she had requested a raise to $6,000 per episode to cover the costs of flying to L.A. from her home in Denver. (At the time, the main cast members were earning $125,000 per episode.)
She returned to the show after Fox agreed to let her record her lines at home (2002).
