    Born in Denver, Colorado
    Represented Colorado's 20th district the state's House of Representatives (1995-2003)
    Represented Colorado's seventh district in the United States House of Representatives (first elected in 2006)
    He was the campaign co-chair of John Kerry's unsuccessful bid for the presidency in 2004.
    He looks like Al Michaels.

    He supports the death penalty, however.
    Despite being a protestant Christian, he divorced from his first wife Deanna in 2008.
    His father was Jewish with Polish ancestors.
    His mother is of English and Irish descent.
    When he was elected to the state senate, he was the first Democrat elected in the 20th district in 30 years.
    As a US congressman, he served on the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government-Sponsored Enterprises.
    He is known for his friendly, humble demeanor.
