    She originally wrote romantic comedies under the pen name ‘Amy Silver’ with little success.
    She had to borrow money from her parents to support herself while finishing ‘The Girl on the Train.’
    She noted about having to do publicity for her books, ‘It’s not comfortable. I’m not naturally an extrovert.’
    She provided an unexpected boost to author Alison Waines, whose 2013 thriller ‘Girl on a Train’ enjoyed a burst of sales to confused readers.

Why she might not be annoying:

    She said about the financial and career pressures while writing, ‘It was a real spur to get ‘The Girl on the Train’ right…. It really concentrates the mind.’
    ‘The Girl on the Train’ spent a record 20 weeks at #1 on the British hardcover fiction best-sellers chart.
    Stephen King tweeted that ‘The Girl on the Train’ kept him up all night.
    She said about the demands of doing interviews, ‘I do find myself moaning about things like my schedule but then I think, ‘Most writers would kill for this level of publicity.’’
