    (circa 1869- )
Caught off the coast of Newfoundland (December, 2008)
Bought by the City Crab and Seafood restaurant in New York City for $100
    Weighed 20 pounds
    Age estimated at 140 years
Released near Kennebunkport, Maine (January 10, 2009)
Some biologists doubt that a lobster can live over 100 years, and it ain't as if George has a birth certificate to prove his age.
To no one's surprise, the lobster's return to the sea was the result of a protest by PeTA.
One of the photographers taking pictures of George as he left the restaurant asked, 'Can you lift up his butt, if he has a butt?'
City Crab never planned to serve him as a meal, but to use him as a mascot instead.
He was released in protected waters where lobster fishing is banned.
Vegetarian restauranteur Larry Fleming, who drove him to Maine, said he was a good road trip companion: 'no smoking and no fighting over the radio.'
