Why he might be annoying:

    He praised Hitler as 'the new Siegfried of German greatness.'
    He claimed that a conspiracy of Jewish bankers was trying to become 'the financial masters of the Eternal City.'
    In his diaries, he complained about the Vatican's refusal to endorse Nazi Germany's war against 'Godless Bolshevism.'
    He may have provided information to German military intelligence during WWII.
    After the war, he organized 'ratlines' that helped Nazis, including Josef Mengele and Adolf Eichmann , escape to South America.
    He said as justification, 'We do not believe in an eye for an eye of the Jew.'

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was staunchly anti-Communist.
    He criticized some Nazi leaders, such as Alfred Rosenberg, for their anti-Christian rhetoric.
    After the Germany army occupied Rome, he wrote to the military governor, General Reiner Stahel, asking that the round-up of Jews in the city be stopped.
