The Resume

    (November 12, 1932-January 27, 2017)
    Born in Brooklyn, New York
    Starred in the Broadway musical ‘It’s a Bird, It’s a Plane, It’s Superman’ (1966)
Also appeared in the Broadway musical ‘Fiorello!’ (1959)

Why he might be annoying:

His acting career failed to take off despite good reviews for ‘It’s a Bird…’
He appeared as Superman in ads for Uniroyal carpets and Aqua Velva after shave.
He was in the running for the role of the father in The Brady Bunch but was passed over for Robert Reed.

Why he might not be annoying:

He did his flying scenes as Superman without a stunt double.
During one performance, the wire holding him up for a flying scene snapped and he fell six feet to the stage. He quickly jumped up and ad-libbed the line, ‘That would have hurt any mortal man!’
He founded a successful homebuilding firm after leaving show biz.
He dismissed the notion of a Superman curse: ‘I have had nothing but good come from playing Superman. Life is good and I’m having a ball.’
