Why he might be annoying:

He started in Hollywood ghostwriting scripts, and refused to tell interviewers which movies he worked on in that capacity, noting 'That's what a ghostwriter is for.'
He hated being described as a director of B movies.
Critics of the day disdained his interest in tawdry and shocking subjects for his films.
After Paramount Pictures shelved 'White Dog' because the NAACP threatened a boycott over its depiction of a dog trained to attack black people, he moved to Europe and never made another American film.
He said, 'I hate violence. That has never prevented me from using it in my films.'

Why he might not be annoying:

At 17, he was the crime reporter for the New York Evening Graphic, where he scored a scoop by breaking the news of actress Jeanne Eagels' death by drug overdose.
During World War II, he landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, filmed the liberation of the Falkenau concentration camp, and earned a Bronze Star, a Silver Star and a Purple Heart.
His 'The Steel Helmet' was the first Hollywood film about the Korean War.
He was known for achieving an artistic look on low budget films.
Several of his films became cult classics.
He influenced directors Jim Jarmusch, Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese, who said 'If you don't like Sam Fuller, you just don't like the cinema.'
