Written works included 'Essai d'ine theorie sur la sturcture des crystaux' (1784), 'Exposition raisonne de la theorie de l'electricite et du magnetism dapres les principes d'AEpinus' (1787), 'De la structure consideree comme caratere distinct de minerau'x (1793), 'Extrait d'un traite elementaire de minealogie' (1797), 'Traite de mineralogy' (1801), 'Traite eementaire de physique' (2 volumes, 1803-06), 'Tableaux camparetif des resuitats de la cristellographe et de l'analyze chimqoe relativement a la classification de mineraux' (1809), 'Traite des pierres precieuses' (1817) and 'Traite decristallographie' (1822)

Why he might be annoying:

He was French.
Crystallography is a narrow and boring field of study.

Famous in his time, he is practically unheard of today.
Although a Catholic priest, he is not known to have ever seriously written anything on religious matters.

Born into poverty, he was only able to attend school with the help of his parents' friends.
In addition to mineralogy, he made contributions to the fields of botany (his original field of interest) and pyroelectricity.
He was thrown in prison during the French Revolution and narrowly avoided execution.
He lost his academic posts to the Restoration government
His name is inscribed on the Eiffel Tower.
He wrote over 100 scientific papers.
He was known for his cheerful demeanor and high moral character.
He died in poverty.
