The Resume

    (1953- )
Earned his Ph.D. at Stanford University (1980)
    Author of 'Carnage and Culture'

Why he might be annoying:

Although he is a registered Democrat, he is out of touch with his party on many issues.
Liberals may look at him with suspicion since he is a member of the conservative Hoover Institution and contributes to conservative magazines.
He has been labeled a 'neo-conservative' (he rejects this label) for his support of the War in Iraq and his generally hawkish attitude on foreign policy.

Why he might not be annoying:

He argues that in war, historically the side with western values like individualism, capitalism, reason, and freedom will ultimately win.
His book Carnage and Culture, which uses the history of nine battles from 480 BC to 1968 to argue his pro-western beliefs, became a best seller after 9/11.
    He is a farmer.
Despite his numerous disagreements with the Democratic Party, he has no intention of changing his party affiliation.
