He had numerous run-ins with fellow driver Kevin Harvick.
He had an incident with fellow driver Sterling Marlin, who later called him a 'bug-eyed dummy.'
He won the 2003 Pepsi 400 only because his car got better fuel mileage than the other contenders.

He is the first driver to win both the Nascar Craftsman Truck and Busch Series Championships.
He got team owner Jack Roush his first Nascar Championship.
Early in 2005 he guaranteed he would be leading a race at California Speedway by lap 5 and he did. He went on to win that race.
He was discovered by then ESPN commentator Benny Parsons racing a late model race car in Tuscon, Arizona. Parsons told Jack Roush about him and Roush hired him.
