    Directed 'Web of Evidence,' 'My Geisha,' 'Young Cassidy' and 'Scent of a Mystery'
    Worked as a cinemtographer on films such as 'The African Queen,' 'The Barfoot Contessa,' 'Conan the Barbarian' and 'Rambo: First Blood Part II'
    Recipient of Honorary Oscar (2001)

Why he might be annoying:

    He was twice divorced.
    His nickname is 'Jack O'Lantern' because of his lighting expertise.
    He developed the less than successful Smell-O-Vision.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He worked with reknowned directors John Huston and Alfred Hitchcock.
    As well as his Honorary Oscar, he won a competitive Oscar for Best Cinematography in 1948.
    He was honored by the Queen with an OBE.
