    He was typecast as a cowboy.
    He divorced his first wife even though they had 3 children together.
    He dropped out of high school.
    He was a thief in his youth, and spent time in San Quentin State Prison for robbery and car theft.
    His nickname was 'smokey.'
    He was reduced to starring in cheesy B-Movies towards the end of his career, such as 'Motel Hell' (1980) and 'Hell comes to Frog Town' (1987).
    He was a smoker and died of emphysema because of it.
    He was the leading man for many of Hollywood's leading ladies, such as Lana Turner, Lauren Bacall, Susan Hayward and Marilyn Monroe.
    His father died when Calhoun was only nine months old.
    He worked for a time as a boxer and a lumberjack.
    He had actually been a cowboy early in his life before getting into acting.
    His criminal past was leaked to the press by his own agent, but did almost no damage to his career. He later sued.
    His career went the span of 50 years and he appeared in over 1000 episodes of various television series as well as 80 movies.
    He once escaped from jail.
    He suffered from diabetes.
