Actress
    (August 16, 1943- )
    Born in Seattle, Washington
Mouseketeer on 'The Mickey Mouse Club' (1955-58)
Was a regular in H.R. Pufnstuf, 'New Zoo Revue' and Land of the Lost
Appeared in the films 'Bloodhounds of Broadway' (1950), 'Artists and Models' (1955) and 'Ratboy' (1986)
Live-action model for Frodo Baggins in Ralph Bakshi's animated 'Lord of the Rings' (1978)
She won a 'Little Miss Washington' contest at age seven.
When she appeared with Eddie Cantor as a tap dancer on 'The Colgate Comedy Hour' (1952), Cantor shaved two years off her age and billed her a seven year old, so she would seem even more precocious.
Cantor also had her legs insured for $50,000.
She was approached about portraying Shirley Temple in a biopic, but Disney would not let her out of her contract.
When she portrayed the title role in the flop 'Ratboy,' she was billed as 'S.L. Baird' to disguise the fact that there was actually a Ratgirl under all the makeup and prosthetics.
Her professionalism and experience were credited with holding together many of the skits during the Mouseketeers' first year.
She made the National Honor Society and was president of her class while attending Los Angeles Valley College.
She said about her main post-Mouseketeer work, as costumed characters in kids' TV shows (especially those of Sid and Marty Krofft), 'I was able to be on shows that were popular and still go to the market and just do whatever I wanted to do without being recognized by fans.
She was a good friend (and longtime next-door neighbor) of Annette Funicello.
For a Disney TV special marking the 30th anniversary of the Mickey Mouse Club, she reprised her signature move of tap dancing while jumping rope. (Or maybe it was jumping rope while tap dancing.)
