Why he might be annoying
He was a ruthless political operator.
Pierre Rinfret, who worked for Nixon as an economist, wrote about Haldeman and John Ehrlichman: 'They were both obnoxious, drunk with their power, conservative to the extent that Attilla the Hun was a flaming conservative (to them).'
Rinfet continued: 'They were both vile; they had a superiority complex beyond belief, were absolutely convinced they knew everything.'
He was deeply implicated in the Watergate Scandal, for which he was sentenced to an 18-month prison sentence.
Why he might not be annoying
He was campaign manager for Richard Nixon's successful 1968 presidential bid.
Nixon said to him upon his resignation 'I love you, as you know...like a brother.'
After his imprisonment, he took on a softer image and devoted lots of time to his family.
He took responsibility for the Watergate scandal in his memoirs.
