Gaming Console
The Resume
(1990- )
Developed by SNK
Complete name is Neo-Geo Advanced Entertainment System (AES)
Based on the Neo-Geo Multi-Video System arcade version
Games include 'Fatal Fury,' 'Baseball Stars,' 'Samurai Shodown' and 'Puzzle Bobble'
Fourth-generation (16-bit) gaming console
Original price $650, games $200
Why Neo-Geo might be annoying
It was freakin' expensive!
Its games were more pricey than other 16-bit systems.
It was originally only available for hotels or for renting.
Its advertising claimed that it was a 24-bit system, which was not possible.
Many of its games had very limited runs.
All of its spin-offs were complete failures.
Its CD version was known for its extremely slow loading time.
It basically came to an end when its pirated ROM's became freely available on the Internet.
It has a cutesy rhyming couplet name.
Why Neo-Geo might not be annoying
Many reviews of this system say it was 'way ahead of its time.'
The gaming experience of the home system was not diminished from the arcades since the same hardware and software was used for both.
Therefore, its graphics and sound were far superior to the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo.
It was the first home console to utilize memory cards.
Though its startup display told of its 330-megabit maximum, its later games could store more than twice that.
Its final game was released in 2004, thirteen years after the system first came out.
It had a cult following (of rich people, yes, but it's still a cult following).
