While playing a baseball game in 1964, he hit a line drive that hit future band-mate Bob Burns in the head and knock him unconscious.

He wrote the song 'Sweet Home Alabama' even though he was from Jacksonville, Florida.
Before his death, it was believed that he was planning on leaving Lynyrd Skynyrd to start a solo country music career.

His father recalls a story where Ronnie told him that he would die with his boots on, meaning he would die while touring with his band.
'Free Bird' is one of the most revered songs in rock and roll history.
He left behind an 11 year old daughter.
His younger brother replaced him as the lead singer for the band.
