She has remained loyal to the often blatantly biased (anti-American) SBS television station.
She is the least watched Australian prime time news reader and has been for most of her career.
Despite requests from her superiors at SBS and the public, she refused to dye her greying hair.

She volunteered with the Commonwealth Police during the Darwin cyclone disaster, one of Australia's worst natural disasters.
She began working at SBS before the station went on the air.
She is involved in several social justice organizations and charities including being a member of the Drug and Alcohol Council and the Brest Cancer Council Advisory Committee.
She ranked 74th (2000) in FHM Australia's 100 Sexiest Women.
