Why she might be annoying:

She said her goal in college was to snag a lawyer.
She left a teaching job to work for her mother-in-law.
During her early days at Estee Lauder, she would answer the phone in different voices to try to convince callers the company was larger than it was: 'I'd say, 'Hello, Estee Lauder. Hold on for a minute please.' Then, in another voice, I'd say, 'Order department, one minute,' and I'd reach in the drawer for an order form.'
Harper's Bazaar wrote that her beauty regime 'assumes Byzantine proportions.'
Despite her breast cancer awareness campaigns, Estee Lauder markets products with suspected carcinogens.

Why she might not be annoying:

When her family left Europe for America (1940), as their ship entered New York harbor her mother woke her up to see the Statue of Liberty, which she said served as a source of inspiration for the rest of her life.
She met Leonard Lauder on a blind date in college and was married to him for 52 years until her death.
She personally raised most of the $13.6 million to create the Evelyn H. Lauder Breast Center at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (1989).
She was also a successful photographer, exhibiting at the Gagosian Gallery in London and the Whitney Museum in Manhattan, and donated royalties from books of her photos to breast cancer research.
