Why he might be annoying:

During his marriage, he had affair with both men and women, ranging from romance novelist Barbara Cartland to Soviet spy Anthony Blunt.
When he and Noel Coward hit the streets of London in drag, they reportedly were detained by the police, who thought they were prostitutes.
He got addicted to morphine and cocaine during his affair with socialite Kiki Preston.
Edward VIII eventually forced Preston to leave England to keep George from relapsing into drug abuse.
He was to be named Governor-General of Australia (1939), but the outbreak of World War II resulted in the appointment being postponed indefinitely.

Why he might not be annoying:

He earned a pilot’s license (1929) and was the first member of the British royal family to cross the Atlantic by air.
When he transferred to the RAF, he was named a Vice Marshall, since it was the closest equivalent rank to his Rear Admiral title in the Navy.
However, he relinquished the rank so he would not be superior to more experienced officers, taking the rank of Group Captain instead.
He was the first member of the royal family to die in active military service in over four centuries.
The crashed plane that he was on was officially headed for Iceland, but he had a briefcase of 100 kroner notes (worthless in Iceland) handcuffed to his wrist.
That, coupled with his earlier service in Naval intelligence, led to speculation that he was really on a secret mission to Sweden (where the kroner was the official currency).
