The Resume

    (May 25, 1922-January 7, 2016)
    Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Sang with the bands of Artie Shaw, Jack Teagarden, Jimmy Dorsey and Harry James
Recorded the singles 'Little Things Mean A Lot' and 'In the Chapel in the Moonlight' (both 1954)
Appeared in the film 'The Second Greatest Sex' (1955)

Why she might be annoying:

While singing with Jack Teagarden, she married clarinetist Clint Garvin, quit the band after Teagarden fired Garvin, then had the marriage annulled.
She suffered psychosomatic laryngitis, explaining, 'Success went to my throat instead of my head.'
Newspapers mistakenly ran her obituary following the death of a singer who used to impersonate her (1978); in addition, the imposter's name, Genevieve Angostinello, is sometimes listed as Kallen's original name.

Why she might not be annoying:

Early during their careers, she and Dinah Shore were roommates.
Her second marriage, to publicist Budd Granoff, lasted 45 years until Granoff's death.
She came back from losing her voice to record 'Little Things Mean A Lot,' which became the biggest hit of 1954.
