The Resume

    (September 15, 1908-November 12, 2003)
Birth name was Mariana Dorothy Agnes Letitia McNulty
Best known as Blondie Bumstead in the long running 'Blondie' movie series
Provides voice of Jane Jetson on 'The Jetsons'

Why she might be annoying:

She married Dr. Lawrence Singleton, a dentist, for only two years (1937-39).
The 'Penny' came from her collection of pennies.
She didn't think she'd get the 'Blondie' role because she was a natural brunette.
Right before the series began she starred opposite Humphrey Bogart in 'Swing Your Lady (1938),' a movie Bogart considered the worst movie he'd ever made.
Once she landed the 'Blondie' role she bleached her hair blond for the REST OF HER LIFE.
Between 1938-50 she did 28 'Blondie' movies, then had just one movie role afterwards, 'The Best Man (1964),' and her scenes were deleted.
She portrayed the role on radio between 1939-50. (typecast)
Of playing creator Chic Young's 'Blondie' cartoon role in the movies she stated, 'God Bless Chic Young!' (brown noser).
She organized the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes' 27-day strike for improved working conditions (1966).

Why she might not be annoying:

At eighteen she was in a vaudeville act with Jack Benny.
She was an outspoken, independent woman who involved herself in union affairs, serving two terms as President of AGVA (the American Guild of Variety Artists).
She was the first woman to become president of an AFL-CIO union.
At a time when New York City unions were controlled by the Mafia, she put herself at great risk. She stood firm and ultimately triumphing over organized crime.
In the 80's at the height of the new wave Blondie popularity, a meeting was arranged between her and lead singer Deborah Harry, who wanted to meet her. The two hit it off and became friends.
She has a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
She said of her career, 'I loved everything I did, big or small, it didn't matter as long as it was fun and pleasing to people.'
She died of a stroke but lived to be 95 (2003).
She wasn't included in the 2004 Academy Awards 'Dearly Departed' video tribute sequence.
