He was cut by the Detroit Lions after drafted and retired immediately.
He retired several times.
In 2002, he turned down a job to coach the eventual Super Bowl Champion, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
He divorced after 40 years of marriage.
He is not just superstitious, but actually believes it really is real.
Days prior to Super Bowl XXXI he leaked that he would leave the Patriots because he was unhappy with the owners meddling.
Why he might not be annoying
He has a knack at rebuilding poor franchises into playoff contenders.
For example, he took the New York Jets to the playoffs a year after they went 1-15.
He loves a challenge.
He prefers to hire younger players instead of veterans for his teams.
