He was nearly impeached as governor of Louisiana for making illegal loans.
He had his own police force that would help to strike down those that got in his way.
He was so confident he'd be elected president in 1936, he wrote an entire book about his first days in the White House.
Franklin Roosevelt privately called Long 'the most dangerous man in America.'
He was against Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal program.
Why he might not be annoying
He promised every American in the Great Depression a car, radio, and job if he was elected president.
He was against big business and an advocate for the poor.
He was known as a great orator both by his supporters and opponents.
He was hugely popular among the poor in Depression-era America.
He was shot by an assassin as he left his office and died before he could run for president (1935).
