Though he had huge success on teams he coached, he has the advantage of having great players on his teams, like Pippin, Jordan, O'Neal, Bryant, etc.
He retired from coaching with the Chicago Bulls, but came back to coach for the Los Angeles Lakers.
His health was an issue going into the 2003-2004 season with the Lakers, yet he coached anyway.
He had a lot of salary disputes while he was with the Chicago Bulls.
He is retiring once again, only this time with the Los Angeles Lakers (2004).
He practices a zen philosophy.
As a Knick, he was primarily a bench warmer.
As a player, he originated the highly unsuccessful windmill, flapping his arms up and down while the opponents tried to inbound the ball.

He coached an unprecedented nine championship teams, including two threepeats with the Chicago Bulls and one with the Los Angeles Lakers.
He is the only head coach in NBA history to coach two different teams to three championships in a row.
His career coaching record is an amazing 832-316.
His players are extremely loyal to him and, though they helped him gain his reputation, they wouldn't play on a team without him.
Jordan's Bulls teams and Shaq/Kobe's Lakers teams didn't win anything until he started coaching them.
