He used a lame hand puppet named 'Clownie,' with a high pitched squeaky voice that made no attempt to appear real.
He was a tough, no nonsense guy, who would not tolerate unruliness from his audience.
His sense of humor ended if he was the butt of the joke.
He disliked performing in skits with other performers, especially clowns.

He was a barker for Sally Rand's Stripper act.
He liked kids.
He performed funny comedy skits with his puppets.
His persona was to dress as a circus ring master which gave his viewers the illusion they were at the circus.
