    (March 5, 1932-November 12, 2010)
    Born in Galicia, Poland
    Birth name was Moshe Katz
Recognized in the Guinness Book of Records as the fastest and most prolific painter
Completed a 12 inch by 16 inch painting of a child in the snow in 38 seconds – including the time to frame it (May 9, 1988)
Created over 280,000 paintings during his career
Had galleries in Greenwich Village in New York City and in Jerusalem
When he found a brush too slow, he switched to using a palette knife and wads of toilet paper.
During public appearances, he would tell corny Borscht Belt jokes while painting.
His webpage offers to estimate the value of any of his paintings for $100, which is more than most of his paintings originally sold for.
Despite his death, his web page (as of 2016) still has a section where you can book him to appear at an event.
He learned to paint in a displaced persons camp after World War II.
For a Boy Scouts fund raiser, he painted for 12 consecutive hours, creating 103 paintings, 55 of which sold the same day (July 15, 1987).
A critic noted that despite his speed, he ‘still managed to create portraits with character and landscapes with depth.’
He quipped, ‘Van Gogh cut off his ear when his paintings didn’t sell. Me, I cut my prices.’
