Wrestler

The Resume

    (1937-October 4, 1999)
    Birth name is Robert Marella
Former WWE U.S. Tag Team Champion
    Wrestled/Commentator for the WWE
Member of the WWE Hall of Fame

Why he might be annoying:

Due to his name, he would act like a gorilla.
When he started wrestling, he was billed as a 'former Asiatic Champion' from Manchuria.
Although a legendary figure in wrestling, he was only a big star in the east coast.
While hosting the 1986 Slammy Awards, he did a spot with his zipper open.
He claimed Hulk Hogan, 'Didn't know a wrist lock from a wristwatch.'
Some hated his WWE announcing because he had a low, slow voice and he would say some things that didn't make much sense.
While announcing, he would talk about the human body in ways that nobody understood.
His character originally spoke no English which was completely forgotten about when he became a WWE announcer.

Why he might not be annoying:

No performer ever had a longer tenure with the WWF than Gorilla Monsoon.
He was known for always being a class act.
Before Vince McMahon bought the company from his father, Monsoon actually owned 1/6 of the company.
He was very agile for a man his size.
A classic Monsoon moment came when he hoisted Muhammad Ali into an 'airplane spin' and slammed him to the mat, which made the crowd cheer like crazy.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1994.
He's as well known as a commentator as he is a wrestler and he always had great chemistry with Jesse Ventura and Bobby Heenan.
He and Heenan are considered the best announcing team in wrestling history as their segments of them bickering with each other were hilarious and usually more entertaining than the matches.
He did an on-air role as President of the WWE in the mid-90's which was a big hit with fans because he always stood up to the heels and made some great decisions and matches which were uncommon at the time.
As President, he impressed a lot of people when the 300-plus pound Vader splashed him at the age of 60.
His son, WWE referee Joey Marella, died before him in a car accident.
He died at the age of 62 after complications of a heart attack.
The WWE named him one of the 50 greatest wrestlers in the history of the company.
