The Resume

    (December 8, 1963- )
    Born in New Orleans, Louisiana
Portrayed the Detective Bunk Moreland on HBO's The Wire (2002-08)
Portrayed trombonist Antoine Batiste on HBO's Treme (2010-13)
Portrayed Robert Zane on USA's 'Suits' (as father of Rachel Zane played by Meghan Markle)
Acted in the films 'Waiting to Exhale,' 'Malcolm X,' 'Four,' 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn,' 'Selma,' and 'Horrible Bosses'

Why he might be annoying:

He was dubbed by an offscreen professional trombonist in 'Treme.'
He was arrested and charged with simple battery on a female Bernie Sanders supporter in Atlanta, and released on $1,000 bond (May 15, 2016).
His opinion about the pilot for 'The Wire': 'I remember the first time we all sat around and watched the pilot. We all turned to each other and said, 'Man, I don't think this shit is going anywhere.''
Despite walking his in-character daughter down the aisle on Suits, he was one of the only cast members not to attend the Royal Wedding (he was performing in the West End at the time).

Why he might not be annoying:

He lost his childhood family home to Hurricane Katrina.
He is an acclaimed stage actor, with memorable performances in revivals of 'Death of a Salesman,' 'Clybourne Park,' and 'Waiting for Godot.'
He was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his portrayal of a closeted gay married man (Joe) who leaves his family for a white man, in 'Four.'
As a fundraiser for President Obama's reelection campaign, he once escorted Gwen Ifill to a state dinner.
He has been extremely active with charity projects both for Katrina victims as well as New Orleans as a whole, to the point where residents nicknamed him 'Saints Wendell' (which is a double entendre - referencing his love for the New Orleans Saints).
As a close friend of Meghan Markle, he regularly discussed her romance with Prince Harry when it was kept secret from the press, and later defended her from online critics (including Markle's real-life father).
