He appeared on the soap 'One Life To Live,' performing 'Christmas Rappin' with a breakdancing Santa (1992)
'The Breaks' was featured in the video games 'Grand Theft Auto: Crime City,' 'True Crime: New York City' and 'Scarface: The World Is Yours.'
After the hits stopped, he turned to Christian rap, releasing the album 'Kurtis Blow Presents: Hip Hop Ministry.'
Why he might not be annoying
He was the first hip hop artist signed to a major label.
Demonstrating his crossover appeal, he opened for Bob Marley at Madison Square Garden (1980) and the Clash at Pier 84 (1982).
