Why he might be annoying:

Despite being warned that he was on Hezbollah's hit list, he continued to stay in the same apartment and took the same route to and from work each day.
After his kidnapping, the agents he had recruited started disappearing or being killed, demonstrating that he had revealed the identities of the members of his network.
Attempts to secure his release led to the Iran-Contra scandal.
Hezbollah used pictures of his dead body in propaganda photos.

Why he might not be annoying:

While in the army, he earned the Bronze and Silver Star and two Purple Hearts.
CIA Director William Webster said, 'Bill's success in collecting information in situations of incredible danger was exceptional, even remarkable.'
His captors kept him in a cell barely larger than a coffin, blindfolded and chained at the ankles and wrists.
He was repeatedly tortured during fifteen months of captivity.
He was flown to Tehran and suffered a fatal heart attack while being tortured by SAVAMA, the Iranian intelligence service.
