    Defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens (1978-82) and Washington Capitals (1982-93)
    Norris Trophy Winner (1983, 1984)
    Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame (2002)
    He refused to wear a helmet during his career.
    He played a season in the World Hockey Association.
    His nickname was 'The Secretary of Defense.'
    He didn't play hockey until he was 13 years old.
    He retired from the Capitals at midseason.
    After announcing his retirement, he played parts of three different seasons in the minor leagues.
    He was considered the player who saved the Capitals franchise, prior to Alexander Ovechkin.
    The Capitals made 11 consecutive playoff appearances under his leadership.
    He is the first NHL player to be born in Taiwan.
    His number 5 was retired by the Capitals (1997).
    He played quarterback for the University of New Hampshire before pursuing a career in hockey.
