Why he might be annoying
Despite proclaiming himself as a religious leader, he lacks much knowledge of Islam.
In 2004, he claimed to be 30 years old, but refuses to back it up with any proof.
He and his al-Mahdi Army are one of the forces challenging for power in Iraq.
His militia is suspected in the murder of pro-U.S. cleric Abd al-Majid al-Khoi (2003).
An Iraqi judge issued an arrest warrant for him for al-Khoi's murder (April 3, 2004).
He urged his followers to 'terrorize' American forces in several Iraqi cities (April 5, 2004).
He is making things much more difficult for U.S. troops in Iraq.
Why he might not be annoying
He stands up for what he believes in.
His father and two brothers were assassinated by agents of Saddam Hussein (1999).
He fought against Saddam Hussein's regime.
He is very popular with many Iraqis.
He agreed to disband his al-Mahdi militia and work with the new Iraqi government (August 2004).
