He was studying marketing at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. when he dropped out to become a singer.
He's moved from Germany to Chicago to Monaco and back to Germany.
Even though he still draws interest in Europe, he never achieved another Top 40 Hit in the United States.
This didn't prevent him from churning out not one, but two 'greatest hits' albums.
Whether he likes it or not his song will forever link him to the Butabi brothers from the Saturday Night Live skit and subsequent movie 'A Night at the Roxbury (1998).'

Why he might not be annoying:

'What Is Love' has sold more than 8 million copies worldwide.
It's also found in the DVD release of 'My So Called Life.'
He may have only one U.S. hit, but worldwide he's sold more than 20 million units.
He has great vocal range and has recorded love ballads that have caused some car windows in Europe to steam up.
He's won several awards, including the 'World Music Award,' the 'Echo-Award' and the 'Goldene Europa Award.'
