    It is the home to one of three United States Mints.
    It served as a gathering place during the Latino Civil Rights Movement in the 1960’s and 70’s.
    It hosted Pope John Paul II for World Youth Day (1993).
    It also hosted the G-7 Summit of World Leaders (1997).
    As of 2005, it had the most federal employees of any US city outside of Washington, DC.
    Much of Jack Kerouac’s classic ‘On the Road’ is set there.
    It hosted the MLB (1998), NHL (2001) and NBA (2005) All-Star games.
    It is consistently ranked among the healthiest cities in the United States.
