    Born in Zlin, Czech Republic
    Drafted first overall by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft
    Defenseman for the Tampa Bay Lightning (1992-98), Edmonton Oilers (1998-2000), New York Islanders (2000-04), Calgary Flames (2005-07), Montreal Canadiens (2007-11) and the Washington Capitals

Why he might be annoying:

    Upon being drafted by the Lightning, the marketing slogan 'Hamr Time' was used on his poster, which was a ripoff of M.C. Hammer's 'Hammer Time' line.
    He was traded to Edmonton in a salary dump move, as the Lightning could not afford to pay his salary.
    He became a journeyman player after leaving the Lightning.
    He, along with teammates Andrei and Sergei Kostitsyn, were investigated by Montreal police after being linked to a mob ring.
    He spent a good portion of his career on poor Lightning and Islanders teams.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was the first ever draft pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
    He made three All-Star Game appearances (1996, 1999, 2003).
    He was considered one of the best bone-crushing defensemen earlier in his career.
    He played for the Czech Republic in international competition.
    His older brother, Martin Hamrlik is considered a legend in the Czech Extraliga.
