Why he might be annoying:

He entered Howard University to study psychology, but dropped out after a year to pursue a music career.
He was a one hit wonder.
Even though he was an accomplished artist in many areas of the music industry, once 'The Hustle' came out he was saddled with the unwanted nickname 'King of Disco.'
He stated he'd never been to a disco or seen the dance before writing the song. He had a couple of girls come into his office and dance the Hustle so he could get the rhythm down.

Why he might not be annoying:

He sang in his church choir and was writing songs by age 12.
He wrote and produced songs for a wide variety of artists, including Gladys Knight & the Pips, Aretha Franklin, Jackie Wilson, Roberta Flack, Vikki Carr, Tom Jones and The Stylistics.
'The Hustle,' written in under an hour, won a Grammy and hit #1 on the Billboard chart (July 1975).
It sold over 10 million copies and is considered to be the best selling disco record of all time.
He died of a massive heart attack exactly 6 months shy of his 40th birthday (July 1979).
