Why he might be annoying:

    He was a tyrant on the set of his films.
    He was completely bald.
    He was nominated for an Oscar three times and was nominated for a Golden Globe twice but didn't win once.
    He married three times and divorced twice.
    He cheated on his wife by having an affair with Dorothy Dandridge.
    Although Jewish, he was typecast as Nazis.
    He turned down the chance to direct 'The Godfather (1972).'
    Dyan Cannon said of him: 'I don't think he'd be capable of directing his little nephew to the bathroom.'
    He said: 'I do not welcome advice from actors, they are here to act.'
    During the burning scene in 'Saint Joan (1957),' the pile of wood below Jean Seburg caught fire. He refused to have the fire extinguished until the scene was done.
    He told Dorothy Dandridge not to take the part of the slave girl in 'The King and I (1956),' however, this decision probably cost her career.
    His film credits range from A-films to financial flops.
    He was infamous for shouting out 'cry you little monsters!' when giving direction for a group of children to shed tears.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He was always willing to take risks to make his films good and was not afraid of controversy concerning his films.
    He ordered Robert Mitchum to actually slap Jean Simmons in 'Angel Face (1952).'
    His all-black film 'Carmen Jones (1954)' shot Dorothy Dandridge into overnight stardom and showed how much talent went to waste during the fifties.
    His directing ability was unique and he received critical acclaim for nearly all his work.
    He has a star on the walk of fame.
    He ranked #47 in Entertainment Weekly's 50 greatest directors of all time.
    He died of Lung Cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
