Why Guiding Light might be annoying
It switched networks in 1946.
It was originally intended to have a religious tone and setting, yet, the show has long distanced itself from that setting.
Two words: Reva Shayne.
Reva was supposedly killed off the show and revived several times.
They moved their production facilities from Chicago to Los Angeles to New York City.
It had a high casting changeover rate.
Due to increasing production costs and lower ad revenue to soap operas, the show began to film on a cookie cutter budget.
Why Guiding Light might not be annoying
Josh and Reva were one of the most memorable 'supercouples' in television history.
It survived cancellations throughout its run.
It has some of the longest running characters portrayed on television.
Up until its conclusion, it was the longest running drama in TV history and longest running regularly scheduled program on TV and radio.
