    He stood by his views, and did not give in to lobbyists or political pressure.
    He had a mild form of multiple sclerosis, which caused him to limp.
    He was an advocate for peace, mental health care, worker's rights, and the environment.
    He was killed in a plane crash along with his wife and daughter (2002).
    Many Minnesotan cars carry the bumper sticker, 'What would Wellstone do?'
