Why he might be annoying:

‘I Fought the Law' was written by the same composer who did the Mary Tyler Moore Show theme!
Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Salt Lake City.
He was adept at, but not widely recognized for, the surf guitar sound.
The band was constantly changing drummers.
Having become so efficient on the guitar, he insisted his brother Randy learn bass to become a member of his band.
While his death was ruled a suicide, with his body covered in gasoline, those closest to him believed he was murdered.
Some of his material was ignored until the 1980s.

Why he might not be annoying:

He considered Buddy Holly to be his idol (both were from the West Texas area).
Unlike the Emergency! actor, he really was born Bobby Fuller (Robert Gaston Fuller, in fact).
While folk rock and the British invasion were the big thing, he stuck to the classic rock & roll style — with a bit of Tex Mex thrown in.
He was a successful music producer, for his own band and several local acts.
His production studio, including an echo chamber, was built in his own backyard.
He continued his entrepreneurship with an all-ages club called Teen Rendezvous.
His older brother Randy was the only other member to remain with the band for its entire run.
‘I Fought the Law’ was remade or sampled by several artists, such as The Clash. Others, such as Lou Reed, mentioned it in their own material.
