    He was a very stiff actor.
    He modeled shirts in magazine advertisements.
    He got his big movie break from D.W. Griffith.
    He nearly attempted suicide in the 1940s when his career was low.
    He fell from major star status to goofy children's show co-star.
    He took his ‘Batman' role way too seriously.
    He didn't get along well with fellow actor Stafford Repp.
