Why he might be annoying:

    He was fired from the National Review by publisher William F. Buckley due to accusations of anti0Semitism, which he denied then and now.
    He was named the Constitution Party's VP pick in 2000, but quit due to scheduling conflicts.
    He called US support for Israel, 'a more or less official national obsession with a tiny, faraway, socialist, ethnocracy.'
    He doesn't believe that Shakespeare wrote his plays and has written two books to try and prove it.

Why he might not be annoying:

    He denies and condemns anti-Semitism.
    He patched things up with Buckley before Buckley's death.
    He's a libertarian and supports strict interpretation of the United States Constitution.
    Patrick Buchanan has called him 'Perhaps the finest columnist of our generation.'
    He looks a little bit like actor Benicio del Toro.
    He makes fun conservatives and liberals alike.
    Before he had a stroke, he could demonstrably calculate square roots in his head using roman numerals!
