    (1280-December 16, 1316)
    Born in Iran
    Younger brother of Mahmud Ghazan
At first baptized as a Christian and named ‘Nicholas’ after Pope Nicholas IV
    Known as ‘Ölziit’ in Mongolian
    Also known as Muhammad Khodabandeh
    Emperor of Il-Khanate (1304-1316)
    Died in Soltaniyeh, Iran
Some people might confuse him with Temür Khan, a Yuan Dynasty emperor.
He converted from Sunni Islam to Shi’a Islam while his brother remained a Sunni Muslim.
He is probably more well-known because of the mausoleum he was interred in rather than his lifetime deeds.
    His Mongolian name means ‘blessed’.
Despite his Muslim religion, he continued his brother’s policy of finding allies in the form of European nations against the Mamluks of Egypt.
The mausoleum in Soltaniyeh where he was interred at features the world’s largest brick dome.
