The Resume

    (1999- )
    Born in Qingdao, Shangdong, China
    Attended University of Michigan
    Miss Michigan World America (2019)
Stripped of her Miss Michigan title after attention was called to posts on her social media account, some of which espoused conservative political opinions (July 18, 2019)

Why she might be annoying:

She declined to wear a hijab during a World Hijab Day event at the University of Florida and then tweeted about it.
She was criticized for tweeting 'majority of black deaths are caused by other blacks… Fix problems within your own community first before blaming others' in 2017.
She posted screenshots from emails and text messages sent by Miss World America representatives reprimanding her for her social media posts.
Predictably, her ousting was taken up as a rallying cry to claim political oppression by those on the far right, such as Joy Villa.
She gushed about meeting and being complimented by Milo Yiannopoulos during an interview (he reportedly called her 'hot' before adding 'hot people don't need feminism').

Why she might not be annoying:

Her parents immigrated from China to the US when she was eight years old.
She was in the ROTC program in high school.
She is skilled in both the piano and violin and teaches both to children.
She performs covers of her favorite pop songs on her YouTube channel, such as Ariana Grande's 'God is a Woman.'
While politically conservative on many issues, she has adopted several moderate stances as well - most notably on legalization of marijuana and gay marriage.
She responded to Miss World America's decision saying: 'I have seen this happen before. It is just not okay to be prejudiced against people who just have a different political view as you.'
After being dropped as Miss Michigan, she was hired by President Trump's reelection campaign to serve on its Women For Trump Coalition.
